ETC Mining Stopped on Some iPollo ASICs – Firmware Released

Attention Ethereum Classic (ETC) ASIC miners!

Several iPollo devices — including iPollo V2 / V2x / V2h — stopped mining ETC after block #23,100,000 due to issues related to DAG Epoch 385.

We’ve seen this problem before — it’s related to the DAG file size growing beyond what some mining hardware can handle. This was extensively covered in our older Ethereum articles, such as:

When Will My Graphics Card Stop Mining ETH?

Thankfully, iPollo has acknowledged the issue and released a firmware update to resolve it. If your device stopped mining ETC, please update the firmware immediately:

Download iPollo V2 Series Firmware

After updating, your device should resume normal ETC mining operations.

That wraps up September 2025. Stay connected on X (Twitter) and Telegram for more news, alerts, and support. Happy mining!

August 2025 kept the mining scene busy with important node releases and scheduled reward adjustments. Below is a concise roundup of what changed this month at 2Miners, so you can keep rigs and wallets configured correctly.

August

Node Updates

MimbleWimbleCoin (MWC) v5.3.10

  • Transaction fee limits: safeguards to prevent unexpectedly high fees.
  • New “offline” mode: run in a mode better suited for cold wallet setups (prepare and sign transactions without network access).

We recommend upgrading if you use cold storage or routinely craft transactions for offline signing.

Ergo (ERG) 6.0.1

  • Versioned block transaction serializer since 6.0: ensures the correct serializer version is used going forward.
  • Candidate regeneration fixes: stability improvements while preparing block candidates.
  • Indexed node API additions: endpoint to fetch blocks with full transactions.
  • UTXO queries refined: option to exclude mempool-spent outputs across all “unspent” endpoints.
  • Unconfirmed TX detail: endpoint now returns full inputs with proofs for pending transactions.

This maintenance release focuses on correctness, API completeness, and smoother block candidate handling.

Zcash (ZEC) v6.3.0

Network Upgrade 6.1 (NU6.1) preparations are included in this release.

  • ZIP 271: Deferred Dev Fund Lockbox Disbursement.
  • ZIP 1016 (partial): Community and Coinholder Funding Model.
  • Activation (testnet): NU6.1 activates at height 3,536,500.
  • Regtest control: can be activated at a specific height using -nuparams=4dec4df0:HEIGHT.
  • Testing note: during the test phase, consensus rules may change; if so, testnet will be rolled back in v6.10.0 and re-activated a second time (see ZIP 255 for deployment process).

Bug fix: corrected accounting for unshielding transactions spending Orchard notes in transparent balance-related RPCs (e.g., getbalance, gettransaction), aligning behavior with earlier fixes for Sprout/Sapling.

Default updated: -preferredtxversion now defaults to 5 (NU5 format). Use -preferredtxversion=4 to retain the previous behavior.

Block Reward Reductions

Karlsen (KLS)

Per the Karlsencoin tokenomics and emission schedule, the block reward decreased:

  • Previous: 29.71 KLS
  • New: 28.89 KLS

Please pay attention! 2CryptoCalc has been updated accordingly.

Kaspa (KAS)

As part of the Kaspa emission schedule and Crescendo hard fork process, another planned reduction occurred:

  • Previous: 4.90 KAS
  • New: 4.62 KAS

Please pay attention! 2CryptoCalc reflects the new reward.

July 2025 has been an intense month for the mining community. We’ve seen the end of an era with Horizen’s departure, major infrastructure upgrades from Flux, and another round of reward reductions. Below is a detailed overview of what happened this month at 2Miners.

July Work Progress Report

Horizen (ZEN) Mining Ends – Pool Shutdown Completed

On July 22, 2025, mining of Horizen (ZEN) officially ended on 2Miners. This followed the project’s announcement of a major transition to the Base network (an Ethereum Layer 2 solution). As part of this strategic shift, the Horizen blockchain ceased operations at block 1,807,300, on July 23 at 6:00 UTC.

Our ZEN mining pool was shut down on July 22 at 12:00 UTC to allow for all final payouts to be processed before the hard fork.

Final payouts were sent to all miners successfully.

We are saddened by this abrupt change — the decision to migrate came as a surprise to us and the community. You can read more about Horizen’s upgrade on their official announcement page.

If you’re looking for an alternative Equihash coin to mine, we strongly recommend Zcash (ZEC). BTC payouts are available!

Flux v8.0.0 – Major Node Upgrade

The Flux development team has released Flux Daemon v8.0.0, a major upgrade that brings important structural changes ahead of the upcoming v9 fork planned for Q4 2025.

January 2025 brought key updates for the 2Miners mining pool, including critical node upgrades, block reward reductions, and changes to Bitcoin payouts for Bitcoin Gold (BTG) mining. Let’s take a closer look at all the changes and improvements implemented this month.

January Work Progress Report

Bitcoin (BTC) Payouts Disabled for Bitcoin Gold (BTG) Mining

Previously, miners had the option to receive Bitcoin (BTC) payouts while mining Bitcoin Gold (BTG) through the Gate.io exchange. However, due to Gate.io discontinuing BTG deposits in the coming days, we will no longer support BTC payouts for BTG mining.

Effective immediately, all BTG mining payouts will be made exclusively in BTG.

What This Means for Miners:

  • New BTG mining payouts will be processed in BTG only.
  • Pending BTC payouts from recent days will still be processed, provided the exchange completes the necessary deposit transactions.

We understand that changes like this can be inconvenient, and we appreciate your understanding as we adapt to evolving exchange policies.

Node Updates

Zcash (ZEC) v6.1.0

The latest Zcash update, version 6.1.0, is a maintenance release designed to ensure the smooth operation of the network. This update sets a new end-of-service height, ensuring continued network functionality without disruptions. All Zcash miners are encouraged to update to this version to maintain uninterrupted mining.

Zephyr Protocol v2.0.2 – ZSD Yield (Hotfix)

The Zephyr Protocol has introduced version 2.0.2 as an emergency hotfix release, specifically targeting mining pools. This is a required update, and mining pools must upgrade to this version immediately.

Exchanges have been advised to keep deposits and withdrawals suspended for the time being. Regular desktop users do not need to update, as a larger chain audit update is expected soon.

Hardfork v7 Activation:

  • Activated at block 433000.
  • Includes a crucial security update to address an issue discovered prior to the full audit update.
  • Details of the hotfix will be disclosed after the transition to v7 is complete.

We strongly recommend all mining pools running Zephyr to update immediately to ensure network stability.

Block Reward Reductions

January 2025 saw scheduled block reward reductions for multiple cryptocurrencies in accordance with their emission schedules. The updated rewards are as follows:

Kaspa (KAS)

  • Previous Block Reward: 73.41 KAS
  • New Block Reward: 69.29 KAS

Ergo (ERG)

  • Previous Block Reward: 21 ERG
  • New Block Reward: 18 ERG

Karlsen (KLS)

  • Previous Block Reward: 35.15 KLS
  • New Block Reward: 34.19 KLS

These reductions are part of the ongoing emission schedules for each network. To calculate potential mining rewards after these changes, visit 2CryptoCalc.

As always, stay updated through our X (Twitter) and Telegram miner community. Happy mining!

December 2024 brought exciting updates to the mining ecosystem, including software updates, new payout options, block reward reductions, and a major announcement regarding Pyrin. As we wrap up the year, here’s a detailed summary of the month’s highlights and a look forward to 2025!

December Work Progress Report

Node Updates

Horizen (ZEN) 5.0.5

The Zend v5.0.5 update is now live. All nodes on the Mainnet must have been updated before December 12, 2024, as Zend v5.0.4 was deprecated at block #1679880. Zend v5.0.5 will remain active until its deprecation at block #1730680, expected on March 11, 2025. This update included bug fixes and minor changes, ensuring the network remains secure and reliable.

Cortex (CTXC) 1.10.61

Cortex released version 1.10.61, featuring multiple stability improvements and performance enhancements:

  • Enhanced database snapshots for better state management.
  • Bug fixes addressing flaky tests and state destruction issues.
  • Optimized chain events and header management for efficient synchronization.
  • New features like the DeleteRange functionality and support for prestateTracer configuration options.

Cortex mining

Ergo (ERG) 5.0.24

The Ergo update 5.0.24 includes critical fixes and optimizations:

  • Refactoring of Autolykos-related code for better efficiency.
  • Resolved issues with API crashes and transaction mempool management.
  • Enhanced support for upcoming Ergoscript changes post-6.0 activation.

Bitcoin Cash (BCH) v28.0.0

Bitcoin Cash Node v28.0.0 has been released in preparation for the May 15, 2025, network upgrade. Key highlights:

  • Introduction of CHIP-2021-05 for virtual machine limits and CHIP-2024-07 for high-precision arithmetic.
  • Improved p2p protocol with enhanced timestamp handling and port mapping support.
  • Expanded Script VM capabilities, including support for 80,000-bit integers.

Note: 32-bit architecture support has been dropped due to increasing resource demands.

Pyrin (PYI) Delisting

We regret to announce the delisting of Pyrin (PYI) from the 2Miners pool. As of December 20, 2024, at 07:00 UTC, PYI PPLNS and PYI SOLO operations have ceased. This decision was made after the developers abandoned the project, deleting all resources and leaving the community without support. We encourage PYI miners to use 2CryptoCalc to find alternative profitable coins to mine.

Nervos (CKB) Pool API Update

Nervos CKB miners can now enjoy enhanced pool features! We updated the API and statistics pages, enabling detailed hashrate and share statistics. You can also adjust the payout threshold directly in the CKB pool. If the changes don’t appear, clear your browser cache with Shift+Ctrl+R (or Shift+Command+R on macOS).

Bitcoin and Toncoin Payouts for Multiple Coins

Great news for Bitcoin Gold (BTG) miners! Bitcoin and Toncoin payouts are now available. Simply set your BTC or TON wallet address in your mining software, and the pool will handle the rest. Note that payouts may take up to 3 days due to BTG deposit rules on crypto exchanges.

Toncoin payouts have also been added for the following pools:

Block Reward Reductions

December saw major block reward reductions for these coins:

  • Horizen (ZEN): Block reward halved from 3.75 ZEN to 1.875 ZEN.
  • Kaspa (KAS): Block reward reduced from 77.78 KAS to 73.41 KAS.

These reductions are part of their respective tokenomics and emission schedules. Use 2CryptoCalc to estimate your mining rewards effectively.

2024 Wrap-Up and Best Wishes for 2025

As 2024 ends, we celebrate a historic milestone: Bitcoin reached $100,000 on December 5, 2024, marking a new era for cryptocurrency. The crypto market is growing, and mining remains profitable. A regular GPU is still enough to earn Bitcoins, and 2025 promises even more opportunities.

We plan to introduce new coins to the 2Miners pool, supporting emerging projects and fostering innovation in the mining community. Stay tuned for more updates!

Happy New Year! Let’s make 2025 another remarkable year for cryptocurrency and mining. Ho! Ho! Ho! Happy Mining! 🎅
